Kia Pakistan is ready to launch the Kia Sportage Black Edition in the country, despite discontinuing the 4th generation Kia Sportage in Pakistan. In June 2021, the 5th generation model replaced the previous version of the car on a global scale. The Sportage has garnered significant interest in Pakistan since its debut and was actually the model that sparked the crossover competition in the country.
Its sales figures are publicly available and remain a popular contender among buyers. KIA Pakistan is set to introduce a new, limited edition variant to its current AWD, FWD, and Alpha lineup. This new version will be the top-of-the-line model, possibly with AWD, and will mark the fourth variant in the range.

Kia Sportage Black Edition
The Kia Sportage Black Edition, which was previously available in Europe for the fourth generation of the car, featured a premium JBL 8-speaker sound system, complete with a front central speaker and subwoofer. It is unclear whether the Pakistani version will be known simply as the BLACK EDITION or the JBL BLACK EDITION.
If it is named BLACK, it is safe to assume that the JBL sound system will not be included. In Europe, customers who purchased the JBL Black Edition were also given JBL Bluetooth speakers as a gift.
The upcoming variant will primarily feature aesthetic updates, such as a blacked-out front grille, dark accents for the headlights, black side view mirrors, blacked-out door handles, black roof rails, and black alloy wheels (although there is no confirmation on the size yet, the overseas model had 17″ alloys).
The front and rear bumper skid plates, valance, and KIA logos will also be blacked out in the Kia Sportage Black Edition. It is possible that the rear bumper will undergo slight modifications, and a spaced-out SPORTAGE emblem in black may be added to the rear hatch.
Inside the car, a black theme will be featured, including a black headliner, door panels, and seats. We can hope for a premium JBL audio system, but no other technical changes or features are expected in the interior.

A strong rumor is circulating that KIA Pakistan may equip the BLACK EDITION with ADAS (active safety features) technology, but this has yet to be confirmed. If this comes to fruition, the car would be outfitted with a front collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and possibly adaptive cruise control.
It is my hope that KIA Pakistan prioritizes the addition of side and curtain airbags across its entire model lineup. There will be no changes to the engine or other components under the hood. Additionally, the Kia Sportage Black Edition will not be limited to black exterior paint only, as it will be offered in a variety of exterior shades, allowing customers to select the BLACK EDITION on a white exterior, for example.
As is typical, there will be a new price tag for the latest version. Currently, the AWD is priced at Rs. 8,570,000. It is expected that the Kia Sportage Black Edition will be priced at over 9 Million.
The introduction of the BLACK EDITION will breathe new life into the discontinued global model in Pakistan, which is especially important given the current challenges facing the auto industry.
