Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has launched the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship 2021. A state of the art scholarship program to encourage more students to pursue higher education, the new scholarship program will allow more students from unfavorable backgrounds to achieve their academic dreams.
The new scholarship program has been launched for students who want to pursue intermediate and undergraduate studies. The announcement came on Thursday as the Prime Minister Imran Khan discussed the merits of such a scholarship.
Who Can Avail Rehmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship 2021?
According to the announcement made, the scholarship will be available to students and can be availed by everyone, including non-Muslims. As long as the student is Pakistani, they can get the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship 2021.
For the students whose families have income less than Rs. 25000 can apply for the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship 2021 for their undergraduate studies. The intermediate program hopefuls will get Rs. 25000 per student.
Eligibility Criteria
Here are the eligibility criteria set by the Government and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
- The students need to be from public schools.
- The Rehmatul Lil Alameen Scholarship 2021 will be given according to their SSC results.
- Students must have at least 60% marks in their SSC exams and must have admission in a public sector college after 2 years of passing their SSC examinations.
- The student should not be availing any other scholarship.
- The income of parents must be less than or equal to Rs. 25000/- per month.
- Parents must not own more than 05 acres of agricultural land or 5 Marla urban property.
Please note that a ratio of 60:40 for science and humanities groups respectively.
What Will the Scholarship Entail?
As per Prime Minister Imran Khan, the federal government will offer Rs. 5.5 billion rupees for 70,000 scholarships. With this in mind, the federal government will disperse 350,000 scholarships in 5 years time. Provincial governments of both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab will also provide such scholarships to bright students.
To shed more light to the scholarship, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that the Scholarship is a nation-wide program that will be implemented to 129 universities all over Pakistan. 50% of the scholarships will be given to women whereas 2% of the scholarship quota has been set for disabled people.
The province of Punjab will receive Rs. 1 Billion per annum for the program whereas the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will get a budget of Rs. 427 million per annum. Every year, a total of 14,891 students will be awarded these scholarships.
Out of these, 891 students will be selected for undergraduate program. Around 14000 scholarships are set aside for intermediate students.
