“Women on Wheels” – Punjab Govt’s Step Towards Freedom

Punjab government of Pakistan has already introduced bunches of projects for the betterment of departments and nation. Chief Minister of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif gives special priority on the women and youth programmes in which they emphasize on their skills and facilitate them. Punjab Government also adopted technology in almost all the departments which is admirable. In the latest programme, Punjab Government takes the initiative of motorcycle scheme for women which they named “Women on Wheels”.

If we take a look on to the developed countries we will find out that the women and men work equally in every field which is the key to their success. Punjab Government takes the initiative for that to remove the stigma about that women should not drive the motorcycle. This programme will help to establish the gender equality which is the need of the time. This programme has collaborated with Bank of Punjab and Transport Department. The applicants need to deposit the down payment of Rs. 27,000 and can also make the installment of Rs. 1,856 each month.

This programme is working in five cities Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad. There is an eligibility criterion for the applicant:

  • The age of applicant should be between 18 to 40
  • having a valid CNIC
  • Valid motorcycle driving license
  • Learner’s license at the time of application
  • domiciled in Punjab
  • Maximum income must not exceed Rs. 30,000
  • Secondary school certificate/ matriculation

CM Shahbaz Sharif tweets, “The Quaid had said that no nation can move forward unless it takes its women along. Punjab has launched yet another project by the name of “Women on Wheels” for their empowerment. Let women take charge of their lives & play their full role 4 uplift of their families & the country”
