Yunus Emre TV Series
The drama series is called Yunus Emre: Aşkın Yolculuğu (English translation is Yunus Emre: The Journey of Love) and is created my Mehmet Bozdağ, a famous fil producer, director and screenwriter. The story follows the life of the poet who was a 13th century Anatolian Sufi poet who influenced the Anatolian culture greatly for centuries to come.
The story follows Yunus as he travels all the way to Nallihan to become a Seljuk official. He joined the Taptuk Emre’s dervish monastery and becomes a dervish. Veteran actor Yusuf Gökhan Atalay played the rule of Yunus in the series. The drama is aired on PTV and PTV Home as Rah-e-Ishq.
This historical drama shows how Yunus heavily influenced the present day Turkey and his poetry lead to highlighting suficism and dervishism in the world. His poems are written in the typical Anatolian folk poetry style that talks primarily about human destiny and divine love.
The drama Yunus Emre a.k.a. Rah-e-Isqh can be viewed on PTV and PTV Home every Monday and Tuesday at 7 pm in the evening.
