Careem & Uber operations have been banned in Lahore

The Punjab government has officially banned taxi services in Lahore including two giants services of Careem and Uber.

In an official notification published by the Office of the Chairman Punjab Transport Authority, the subject clearly states that:

“Illegal operations of private cars as taxi under the umbrella of Careem, Uber and A-One car services in Lahore”.
And Thus, Punjab government has absurdly banned general public ridding services of the 21st century’s way of public transport. However, on the other hand, Lahoris are showing quite an aggressive reaction to this ban and have shared their opinion and anger on multiple social media platforms. Careem and Uber provide comfort and easy access to majority population of Lahore and on the other hand, have severely affected other public transport services operating in Lahore for middle-class population. Many rikshaw drivers, taxi drivers has shown aggression towards Uber and Careem drivers as well. These services have also affected businesses of Rent-A-Car services.

It has been written in the notification:

“It has been observed with grave concern that some companies including Careem, Uber, and A-One etc are offering Cab-services through mobile network technology without registering the private cars with any regulatory body and without obtaining fitness certificate/ route permits of these cars causing great loss to the Govt. Exchequer and also a security threat to the general public traveling through these cars. These companies are providing services through android device/mobile phones and are private cars are being used through on-line applications, whereas these cars are registered in private capacity, and being utilized on commercial basis which is a violation of Section 2(5), (20), Section 39 and Section 44 of Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965..”

However, it should be noted that the Ordinance of 1965 has been implemented in 2017 by Punjab government. Well, the government is responsible to modify the Ordinance accordance to present day demand.

  • Shame on you government. its all about to support Turkish company A-Taxi by Al-Bayraq.
kisi ko rozgar to de nahi sakte tum log aur jin ka rozgar laga hua he woh bhi cheen lo. 1965 ka ordinance ab yaad aa raha he inhain. doosre countries kay sath itni bhi yaari na nibhao kay apni qoum kay ghar ka chulha bhi band kar do tum log. Rules ko implement hona chahiye sab par lekin rules implement karne ka yeh tariqa to nahi kay aap 1 day me 1500 cars ko police stations me band kar do. Private cab companies ko notices do, in muamlaat ko hal karne kay liye un kay sath beth kar is ka koi hal nikalo. lekin aisa to tab ho ga na jab niyaat saaf hogi. jahan maal nazar aaye ga wahan rules isi tarha forcefully implement hoga. Khawateen kay tahafuz kay bill ko kitna implement karwaya he government ne woh bhi sab kay samne he aur qanoon hote huye bhi hamari behnain betiyan zulm ka shikaar hain lekin wahan yeh ordinance implementation ka kisi ko yaad nahi aaye ga. I am a supporter of PML-N lekin supporter wahan tak hon jahan tak woh acha kaam karte rahain gay.

Careem we are on your back. Keep up the good work. Don't give up. Careem go to Courts and teach a lesson to A-Taxi and Government.
and A-Taxi you plz use Barnol. Mukabla business ki tarha karo Government kay peeche chup kar oche hath kande istemal kar kay logon ko berozgar nahi karo. If you are feeling jealous of private cab services tou is say jealous hone ki bajaye in kay successful business model ko adopt kar lo aur healthy business competition creat karo.
