Ertugrul Gazi is the story of Ertugrul, the father of Osman who founded the Ottoman Empire. According to the Ottoman tradition, Ertugrul is the son of Suleyman Shah who was the leader of Kayı tribe of Oghuz Turks. After his father died, he became the leader of his own tribe and his struggles against Mongols laid the foundation for his son Osman to found the Ottoman Empire.
Meet The Cast
The start-studded cast of the drama includes some of the most celebrated and much-loved actors from the Turkish industry. Engin Altan Düzyatan plays the titular role whereas Turkish beauty Esra Bilgiç is playing his romantic interest in the drama. The series was directed by Metin Günay while it was written and produced by Mehmet Bozdağ, who has written and produced quite a few favorite Turkish dramas over the years.

- Nomand, the special choreography crew of popular Hollywood movies such as The Expendables and Conan the Barbarian was invited to Turkey to prepare special choreography for the drama series.
- A special area like a smaller zoo was created for all the animals on set that included, 25 horses, nightingales, sheep, goats and partridges.
- This drama series proved to be a milestone in the Turkish industry due to its administration of arts. The production crew accumulated copper and metal accessories from various parts of the country to make the setting authentic.
