Pakistan’s ex-PM Imran Khan wounded in an Assassination Attempt

The former prime minister and popular leader of Pakistan Imran Khan suffered injuries in an “assassination attempt” at Wazirabad during his long march.

Imran Khan, a former Pakistani prime minister, was gunshot in the leg in what his supporters are calling an assassination attempt. On Thursday, the event happened in Wazirabad. Khan was speaking at a rally when a shooter started shooting. The bullets were fired not far from Imran Khan’s motorcade. Some of Imran Khan’s followers were allegedly hurt in an attempt to “assassinate” him.

Imran Khan suffered injuries to his foot as the shooter opened fire at the gathering, according to senior party official Asad Umar, who was not seriously harmed. Imran Khan has been taken to a hospital to receive medical attention for his wounds.

Later, Imran Khan was spotted with a bandaged foot. Imran Khan was transferred from his container truck, where assurances that he was safe were being made, shortly after the incident. In the assault, Senator Faisal Javed Khan also sustained injuries. On social media, there is a video showing him covered in blood.

According to an important Khan aide, “This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him.” According to Pakistan’s Geo TV, a male suspect has reportedly been detained. The assailant has not been recognized, but he was quickly apprehended after opening fire on the rally Imran Khan was leading. Imran Khan was shot, but no one has taken responsibility for it.

The attack took place less than a week after Khan and his hundreds of supporters started their march from Lahore, the capital of the Punjab state. Khan has claimed that the United States and his successor, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, conspired to remove him after a no-confidence vote in Parliament in April. Both the new premier and Washington have refuted these assertions.
