Realme in Pakistan: What Does it Have to Offer?

Another Smartphone brand has set foot in Pakistan, in an attempt to cash in on the growing smartphone market of the country. Aimed at providing high quality smartphones, Realme targets their products around youth, with the tagline explicitly stating it ‘Proud to be Young’ as the marketing head of Realme in Pakistan states, “By embodying the spirit of ‘Proud to Be Young’, Realme provides an optimum combination of bold, innovative designs and a balanced integration between software and hardware”.
Realme, a sub-brand of the already popular OPPO, recently arrived into Pakistan with the launch of two new smartphones, one for the budget category while the other for the higher-end segment of the market.

Realme C1

The Realme C1 is targeted at the budget category. It comes with a 6.2” display protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by the SnapDragon 450 Octa-Core processor, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage. There’s a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 16MP main sensor, alongside a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera is a standard 5MP sensor. The Realme C1 also comes with an impressive 4230 mAh battery and is priced at Rs.18999. The phone certainly looks good on paper and should offer decent value for money in our opinion.

Realme 2 Pro

Realme in Pakistan has introduced the Realme 2 Pro for the higher-end segment. It comes with a 6.3” display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device runs on the SnapDragon 660 Octa-Core, coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. As far as the camera setup is concerned, the Realme 2 Pro sports a 16MP + 2MP camera setup on the rear while the front camera is another 16MP sensor. This device also includes a few other features including a fingerprint sensor, USB 2.0 and other basic sensors that you’d expect on a higher-end device. This phone is powered by a 3500 mAh battery and costs Rs.46999. While the phone offers decent specifications, the price does not seem reasonable and it may not be the best option to go for in this price segment. Nevertheless, it’s all about the user experience and we’re yet to see how Realme in Pakistan performs.

Realme in Collaboration with Daraz.pk

The smartphone manufacturer also announced their collaboration with one of Pakistan’s largest online shopping stores, Daraz.pk, which would mean that Realme’s products would be available on Daraz.pk, alongside 600 stores nationwide, making the products easily accessible. The commercial director of Daraz endorsed the collaboration as he added, “Realme is another big name which has and is breaking through the walls in other parts of Asia. Soon it will be launched on Daraz Pakistan platform exclusively on amazing competitive prices. And it hopes to break all past records”.

The Entry-level Realme C1 would be sold exclusively on daraz.pk from 9th to 31st January while the Realme 2 Pro would be sold from 10th January onwards. Even though Realme has been successful in other countries, it would be a challenge for the smartphone manufacturer to capture a significant share in the highly competitive smartphone market of Pakistan.
