11 Pakistani Players Drafted for 2022 Lanka Premier League

A total of 11 Pakistani players have been drafted for the 2022 Lanka Premier League. Pakistani players are in high demand for many international cricketing leagues all over the world. Apart from the Indian Premier League, Pakistani players play in international leagues all over the world.

2023 Lanka Premier League

Our players have appeared in all two editions of the Sri Lankan league and it looks like the 2022 edition will be no different. The new season of Sri Lanka’s T20 League will feature a total of 11 players who have been drafted into different teams.

Here is a breakdown of which player will be playing in which company.

The following players have been drafted:

  • Hailer Ali
  • Imad Wasim
  • Iftikhar Ahmad
  • Azam Khan
  • Mohammad Hasnain
  • Anwar Ali
  • Shoaib Malik
  • Asif Ali
  • Sarfraz Ahmed
  • Ahmed Daniyal
  • Faheem Ashraf

Imad Wasim was the most expensive player who was picked for $60,000, whereas Asif Ali and Faheem Ashraf were picked up for $50,000. Shoaib Malik cost $40,000 while Haider Ali, Azam Khan, and Sarfaraz Ahmed were picked up for $15,000.

The Pakistani players who have been drafted are Colombo Stars, Dambulla Giants, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy Falcons. A total of 353 players will take part in this league, out of which 180 are foreign players, 173 players are Sri Lankan first class players, ex-international players, and international players.

The 2023 Lanka Premier League will begin on 6th December 2022 and end on 23rd December 2023. The T20 tournament will be a Double round-robin and Playoff style tournament.

A total of 5 teams will play who will play 24 matches in total. The tournament will be played in three stadiums. These are:

  • Premadasa Stadium in Colombo
  • Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota
  • Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy

The Colombo and Kandy stadiums have a capacity of 35,000 people whereas the Hambantota stadium has a capacity of 34,300. The winners of the tournament will win a total of US $100,000 whereas the runner-up team will receive a total of US $50,000.
