Huawei’s highly anticipated flagship smartphones are finally here and are quite impressive according to initial impressions. Huawei had been boasting about their AI hardware and technology, which has debuted in their latest phones, the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro.

While both these devices are primarily similar, there are a few divergent features and specifications. Here’s a detailed comparison of the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro

What’s Common?

AI Technology

To begin with, both the devices are based around Huawei’s much hyped Artificial Intelligence. Huawei claims that their AI technology is designed to leverage NPUs to enhance performance, stimulate energy efficiency, improve user convenience through advanced artificial intelligence and minimize over time performance degradation, which has been a rather uninvited feature of Android smartphones.

Common Specifications

The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are largely similar in terms of specifications, with a few notable exceptions of course.

Processor: Huawei Kirin 970 Octa-Core (2.4 GHz)

Software: Android Oero 8.0 with EMUI 5.0

Primary Camera: Dual Camera Setup – 20 MP monochrome lens with aperture f/1.6 + 12 MP Aperture Colour Camera Lens with aperture f/1.7 and Optical Image Stabilization

Secondary Camera: 8 MP with aperture f/2.0

Battery: 4000 mAh with SuperCharge Fast Charging technology and safe charging technology

 

What’s ‘Not’ Common

The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are different in a few aspects.

Design

Primarily, the design concept of both the phones is similar with a glass back, curved sides and a reflective band running across however, there are some divergent features.
The Mate 10 Pro has a more modern appearance with higher screen-to-body ratio and slimmer bezels, compared to that of the Mate 10.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is also IP67 rated, making it water resistant however, you’ll have to compromise on the headphone jack as the Mate 10 Pro does not have one.
The colour selection available for both the devices is also different. While you can get the Mate 10 in brown, gold, pink and black, the Mate 10 Pro is available in Grey, blue, pink and brown.

Specifications

Even though most of the specifications for the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are same, there are a few exceptions. While the Mate 10 sports 4 Gigs of Ram and 64 GB internal storage, the Mate 10 Pro offers a fairly larger 6 Gigs of Ram and 128 GB internal storage.

Display

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro sports a better 6.0” 18:9 OLED display panel with FHD+ resolution compared to the 5.9” 16:9 QHD LCD panel.

Pricing

Of course, both the phones are differently priced. While the Mate 10 is priced at $710, the Mate 10 Pro costs $865.
