Pakistan Tour of Australia 2023 Announced | Dates, Schedule and Time

The Pakistan Tour of Australia 2023 is a done deal. The Pakistani men in green will travel to Australia to play a total of three test matches over the course of four weeks. The series has been named the Benaud Qadir Trophy, and the matches played in the series will be a part of the World Test Championship cycle.

The series will begin in December 2023 and end in January 2024, marking the start of a new year for the men in green. The matches will be played in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, the three major cities of Australia where cricket is loved as much as it is loved in various cities in Pakistan.

Setting Up the Pakistan Tour of Australia 2023

The tour is set to commence on 14th December at Perth Stadium, which will be the first time Pakistan plays a Test match at this venue. The highly anticipated Boxing Day Test will take place at the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground from 26th to 30th December.

The tour will conclude with the third and final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 3rd January 2024. Pakistan has previously played 10 Tests at the MCG and eight at the SCG, winning two matches at each of these iconic venues.

Before the Pakistan Tour of Australia 2023 series begins, Pakistan will engage in a four-day warm-up match to adapt to the conditions in Australia. This upcoming tour will mark the third Test tour of Australia for Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam.

The talented batsman had previously visited Australia in December 2016, led by captain Misbah-ul-Haq, and in November 2019, when Azhar Ali held the captaincy. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan embarked on their most recent tour to Australia, where they reached the finals of the tournament.

In 2022, the Benaud-Qadir Trophy was introduced when Australia visited Pakistan for a three-Test series after a 16-year hiatus. Pat Cummin’s team claimed the inaugural trophy by securing a 1-0 series victory over Pakistan, with the decisive win taking place in Lahore during the third and final Test.
