Twitter All Set to Remove Legacy Blue Checkmark

Twitter is ready to move ahead with its new policy and will remove Legacy Blue Checkmark. Legacy Blue Checkmarks have been a sign of a prize that was to be earned by the most users who didn’t earn the Blue Checkmark. The new decision will start to roll out by 1st April, which is incidentally, April Fool’s Day.

Starting on April 1, the microblogging platform will begin phasing out the legacy blue ticks assigned to verified accounts prior to Elon Musk’s takeover. This move is part of microblogging platform’s efforts to promote its Twitter Blue subscription service.

At the same time, the platform has requested individuals and organizations with legacy blue ticks to subscribe to Blue services if they wish to keep their verification badges. Coincidently, such accounts have screamed outrage at Elon Musk for even thinking of that.

The Legacy Blue Checkmark is to be replaced by the Twitter Blue program that anyone and everyone can take up if they pay the $11 price attached to it. The price is the same for Android and iOS users in the United States. For Pakistan, the price is Rs. 2,250.

However, the guidelines and the fact that anyone who can afford the tick mark can get it have taken its authenticity out. An official tweet said:

“New subscriptions to Twitter Blue are available globally on the web, iOS, or Android. Not all features are available on all platforms. Newly created Twitter accounts cannot subscribe to Twitter Blue for 30 days. We may also impose waiting periods for new accounts in the future at our discretion and without notice.”

After Elon Musk’s takeover of the company in 2022, microblogging platform launched its paid subscription service called Twitter Blue. This service enables users to compose tweets with up to 4,000 characters, including longer Quote Tweets or replies. Additionally, new subscribers can enjoy priority ranking in conversations, fewer advertisements, and the ability to post longer videos on the platform.
