Elon Musk, the new Twitter CEO will be relaunching Twitter Blue today. Although controversial at first, people have come to anticipate the new service as it offers some valuable services to the subscribers. Coming to the platforms with a handful of features, the new Blue subscriptions are on a bumpy ride for sure.
While Android users will have a small price to pay, iOS users will have to pay a higher price for their Blue Check next to their names. Although it may seem unnecessary Twitter and Elon Must think otherwise and the fact that people are lining up to get the verification is a validation of this move by Twitter and their head man.
What Is Twitter Blue?
The new Blue is a new feature that will allow everyone and anyone to get a blue checkmark for their profile. With a small fee, the checkmark will be provided to the receiver. However, they do have to provide a verified phone number to get it.
After your account has been reviewed by a Twitter official, you will get your checkmark. Twitter has failed to reveal the exact review process and what an account should have to be eligible for Twitter Blue. However, Twitter has made it abundantly clear that if you change your display name, profile picture, or your Twitter handle, your blue checkmark will be removed until your profile is reviewed.
To avoid confusion between regular subscribers and brand accounts, Twitter will dish out Gold checkmarks for businesses, grey for Government and Multilateral accounts, and blue for normal users. The grey marks will be rolled out this week whereas gold is being rolled out as we speak.
The Twitter Blue subscribers will also get some perks that include early access to select new features. Twitter is also working on allowing their blue checkmark users to post longer video content in 1080p, their replies will be prioritized, and highlighted and the users will get half the ads. But all of these features are not available yet and will be available soon.
Twitter to Increase Tweet Character Limit
Elon Musk has confirmed that Twitter will increase its Tweet length to 4000 characters. Previously the character limit was 280 characters, which was often deemed as too short by the users for ages. This is the first new feature that is being welcomed by Twitter users all over the world wholeheartedly. Elon Musk has yet to announce if this feature will be for Twitter Blue users or everyone.
Twitter Blue will cost you $8 per month if you are an Android user and $11 if you are an iOS user. The hike in price is due to the App Store fees.
