HBL PSL 8 2023 Draft Order Finalized and Revealed

As we inch closer to the next edition of PSL, Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the PSL 8 Draft order. The order was finalized and revealed today and we finally know which franchise will get to pick players in what order. The order is very important as the first pick always has more options to choose from.


The event was held on Monday 31st October 2022 at the Pakistan Cricket Board Office. All six concerned franchise owner representatives were present at the event. The draft picks were decided with a lucky draw that was made in the presence of all the parties involved.

Here is what we have learned so far.

PSL 8 Draft Finalized

According to the lucky draw and the information revealed, the franchises will pick their players in the following order.

  • Lahore Qalandar
  • Quetta Gladiators
  • Multan Sultans
  • Karachi Kinds
  • Islamabad United
  • Peshawar Zalmi

International players can now apply to play in the PSL 8 and make themselves available in the PSL 8 Draft. Usman Wahla, the Tournament Director said:

“We have set small milestones for our flagship event and Pick Order for HBL PSL 2023 was one of the targets. This has set the tone for this year’s Player Draft as the teams will now have absolute clarity on their turn and how they will make the best use of their chances to pick players for one of the most grueling and fiercely-contested leagues.

The player Registration window for foreign players is also open and we are receiving encouraging responses, which is a testament to the reputation of the HBL PSL and how much the top players want to be part of it.”

The PSL 8 matches will be played in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan. There will be a total of 18 rounds of drafting, including 3 Platinum category rounds, 3 diamond category rounds, 3 gold category rounds, 5 silver category round, 2 emerging category rounds and 2 supplementary category rounds.

At the moment, Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Super League are working together to make the new tournament a complete hit and a spectator-friendly event for the fans. More information regarding the PSL 8 Draft will be shared very soon.
