Pop sensation Pasoori took over the world when it was released back in February of 2022. As part of the Season 14 of Coke Studio Pakistan, the song was the sixth on the list and was the most successful. It has now breached the 500M views mark on YouTube, which makes it one of the very few songs by a Pakistani singer to do so.
The news was shared by Ali Sethi, one of the singers of the song. He shared the news on his Instagram as he celebrated the big achievement alongside his co-singer Shae Gill and producer Zulfiqar J. Khan. He captioned the picture with: “Ye Kya Kiyaaaa” to express his excitement.
Pasoori – A Global Sensation
While Coke Studio Pakistan has always been a big hit all over the world, not even the best of its songs were able to break into the global market as Pasoori did. It made rounds across the border and across the globe. It remained on top of many top chart lists.
It was the first song to be included in Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart and even was played during episode 4 of Disney’s Ms. Marvel. The song first reached 300 Million views on YouTube back in August of 2022, making it the only third song in the history of Coke Studio to do so.
Pasoori was also the most streamed Pakistani song globally as well as in Pakistan in 2022. What more is amazing is that it was the most searched song in the world in the year 2022. It also became the very first Pakistani song to ever feature in YouTube’s Global Top Music Videos Chart in December.
To add to the accolades, the movie video is now the first and only Coke Studio music video to ever reach 500 Million views.
The song has definitely boosted the careers of both singers. Shae Gill is now a recognized singer who is getting offers left and right. Ali Sethi, on the other hand, is on a round of global popularity. He was set to sing the anthem for HBL PSL 8 but the opportunity was let go because it would be a conflict of interest for Najam Sethi, his father and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
