NUST Students Develop Pakistan’s Dirst AI-powered Mobile Photo Editor


Two students of NUST, Zain and Abduallah, have developed an AI-powered photo editor that improves and arrange your selfies with the help of mobile Artificial Intelligence. They started launching this application in the second year of their degree and then opened their own startup which was first covered by NUST Technology Incubation Center.

The application is known as Blur which can blur out the photos background on a single tap providing a touch-up of DSLR type. It attribute automatic human detection combined with numerous beauty filters to help you edit your photos without any issues. Currently the application is present on Google Play Store with more than 100k downloads acquire in short time of manufacturing.

The start beyond the app, goals to use the ability of your pocket devices to boost the features of the application they develop while avoiding the use of a network, hence least cost and greatest efficiency. The startup has invested much time and resources in developing its presets and adjustment that allow users to improve their photos. The startup is located at NSTP (Pakistan’s first National Science and Technology Park) and they have a passionate and dedicated team of people.

Zain, speaking about the objective of its beginning, said: “ is a startup of mobile technology specializing in deep learning-related products. Our aim is toadvance mobile photography to the high level with the help of computer vision techniques, neural networks, deep learning. Our aim is to introduce new ways for people to show their emotions through the camera.”

Further, the startup has obtained succ essinternationally by getting selected in incubators and accelerators all over the world including Block 71 Incubation Center, Hero Program at Silicon Valley, Draper University, Singapore. As the startup initially focuses on products related to AI, they are active members of many technology programs like IBM Business Partner World, Nvidia AI Inception, and AWS Activate.

While their startup is expanding, they actively looking for funds and investment opportunities locally and globally to expand their startup scale further.
