PSL 8 Trophy “Supernova” Revealed at Shalimar Gardens

The sparkling PSL 8 Trophy is finally revealed at Shalimar Gardens, Lahore. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi had previously announced that the trophy design will be changed for the HBL PSL 2023 and today, the new trophy has been revealed.

The event was held at Lahore’s Shalimar Garden, which has had historic significance in Pakistan for decades now. The event was joined by Najam Sethi, the PCB Management Committee, Franchise owners, and the elite cricketers from different franchises.

The new PSL 8 Trophy is called Supernova and is a beautiful display of glitz and glamour. The trophy features three pillars that reflect the national team’s motto of Unity, Passion, and Strength. Each of these three pillars is fitted with 9907 sparkling zircon stones with a gold embellishment of the crescent moon and star on top to represent the Pakistan flag.

Here is what Pakistan Cricket Board said about the trophy during the unveiling.

“National team’s motto, artistry, recognition and prestige were conveyed in the brand new Pakistan Super League eight trophy. The 24-karat Supernova Trophy, as it will be called, has been made in Pakistan and showcases the country’s skilled craftsmanship and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s dedication towards supporting local businesses.”

“The three pillars of the trophy, which are studded with 9,907 sparkling zircon stones, represent the national cricket team’s motto: Unity, Passion, and Strength, while the main pillar at the back is further embellished with crystals, representing the dedication and hard work that has gone into ensuring the team’s success.”

The opening match of the PSL 8 will be held in Multan for the first time on 13th February. The match will be played between Lahore Qalandars who won the title in 2022 and Multan Sultans who won the title in 2021. The PSL 8 Trophy will be there at the opening ceremony as well.

The first two legs of the tournament will be held in Karachi National Bank Cricket Arena and Multan Cricket Stadium from 13th February to 26 February. The action will move to Qaddafi Stadium and Pindi Cricket Stadium where the matches will commence from 26 February to 19th March.
