Xiaomi Launches Mi Mix Fold At Global Event

Mi Mix Fold is here and it is glorious. Xiaomi is upping their game with this new round of launches. Just a few days ago, Xiaomi announced that they will be launching a round of new smartphones including Mi Ultra, Mi 11 Lite and the Mi Band 6, their flagship fitness tracker.

However, Xiaomi dropped the biggest bomb yet at today’s Mega Launch event as they announced the release of their much-awaited Mi Mix Fold. But tat is not the only thing that this mega Chinese brand announced today. In fact, they had another Major announcement.

Xiaomi Unveils New Brand Logo

Today is the second day of Xiaomi making new announcements. The second round comes with the news of their very first foldable smartphone that they are calling Mi Mix Fold and now they have announced that they have changed their logo.

Planning on embodying the new “Alive” brand identity, the new logo is designed by Japanese graphic designer Kenya Hara. Instead of bringing something completely new, the new logo has rounded edges, new MI typography and overall looks better than before.

Performance Specifications of Mi Mix Fold

After the announcement of the new brand logo, Xiaomi went on to announce their new Mi Mix Fold. The foldable smartphone will feature some of the best technologies that the brand has to offer. To begin with, the smartphone is a Dual SIM phone with Nano-SIM dual stand-by technology.

The new foldable smartphone will come with Android 10 operating system that will soon be updated to Android 11. The android will be supported by MIUI 12 user interface that will make using the smartphone a joyride.

The Mi Mix Fold will come with 2.84 Octa-core processor that is supported by Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 88 chipset and Adreno 660 GPU. The smartphone will come with two different memory variants. You will get a standard 12GB RAM and an option between 256GB ROM and 512GB ROM.

There is a chance that the smartphone will come with an option of 16GB RAM as well with 512GB ROM, but this is up in the air at the moment. At the moment, Xiaomi has no intensions adding expandable memory to their new flagship phone.

Battery and Charging Capabilities

The Mi Mix Fold will come with a Li-Po 5020 mAh non-removable battery that is advertised to be capable of 67W fast charging, something that is lightening fast. The smartphone boasts of charging to full in just 37%.

Screen and Camera Specifications

The Mi Mix Fold will come with 8.01 inches foldable AMOLED touchscreen with 1B colors, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The phone will have 85.9% screen to body ratio. As for the resolution, the smartphone will feature 1860 x 2480 pixels that will deliver 387 pixels per inch density.

A second display can be found at the front of the phone that will be a 6.52 inch AMOLED touchscreen with 840 x 2520 pixels. The screen will feature HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as well. It is not sure if the screen will come with Gorilla Glass protection or not.

As for the camera, the Mi Mix Fold will come with a 20MP selfie camera with HDR and Panorama mode. You can record videos in 720p as well as 1080p. The main camera will feature three lenses that will include 108MP wide angle lens, 8MP 3x Optical zoom lens with liquid lens and 13MP ultrawide lens.

The camera will come with dual LED flash, HDR, Panorama mode and can record videos in 1080p, 4K and 8K.

Price and Availability of Mi Mix Fold

The Mi Mix Fold will first launch in China on 16th April 2021 and then the launch will roll out to the rest of the world.

The expected price of the 12GB RAM/256GB ROM is expected to be around $1520 whereas the price of the smartphone with 12GB RAM/512GB ROM is expected to be around $1670. The expected price for the flagship 16GB RAM/512GB ROM will have a price of $1977.
