5 Times Social Media Made Average Pakistani’s Star & then Forgot

0

How many times have we seen average Pakistanis hitting the internet because of their talent? I’m not sure if word ‘talent’ fits in here, probably it’s the social media and a little bit of luck, talent to some extent and people go crazy over the internet. There have been a number of cases when average Pakistanis became celebrities overnight courtesy the social media and were then forgotten. Their follower-count stagnates after a while and they’re never seen again.

Here is a list of a few Pakistanis who came to the limelight thanks to the social media and were obliterated from people’s consciousness after a while.

1. One Pound Fish Man

Muhammad Shahid Nazir, better known as ‘One Pound Fish Man’ gained the attention of social media with his viral video. Everyone went berserk over the internet about the internet superstar but gradually his fame diminished. No one talks about him now, at least not as per my knowledge.

2. Justin Bieber Girls

Muqaddas and Saania, the Justin Bibis became internet sensation following their song ‘Baby’ which was originally sung by Justin Bieber. The song got everyone talking about them, earned them an interview or two with TV channels, however, it didn’t last long.

3. The Rickshaw Driver Singer

Everyone knows the Pakistani rickshaw driver who with his melodious voice, singing Ghulam Ali’s ‘Yaad Piya ki Aey’, became a hit overnight. Unfortunately, he would still be riding his rickshaw to make a living, singing those melodious songs, but no one cares now.

4. The Fruit Seller

Tahir Zaman of Okara took the internet by storm when his video in which he sang Arjit Singh’s song ‘Koi Tere Khatir Hai Jee Raha’ went viral. He aspired to be a singer, I wonder what he’s doing now.

5. The Awesome Reporter

Everyone has watched Chand Nawab’s viral video which was in fact a blooper, haven’t you? We used to watch that video before the movie on every movie night in college; that’s actually quite a few years back. He’s gone and long forgotten now.

The most famous ‘Chai-wala’ is in the news these days because of his looks and blue eyes. He’s even turned to modelling, however, I doubt the consistency of Pakistanis as a nation. I seriously hope that he retains this status even after this bout of his superstar-days.

PEMRA Once Again Warned all to Stop Indian DTH

0

We have seen many times when PEMRA announced and warn all cable operators, Wireless TV providers, IPTV providers and to general public to stop the use of Indian DTH-Direct to Home i.e Dish TV, AirTel, Reliance etc. In Pakistan Dish TV is being used from many years, people are using it at their homes or cable/other service providers are using it for commercial purpose. In last October, PEMRA launch educational plus warning campaign for the ban on Indian DTH satellite television receiver’s in Pakistan. And recently Pakistan auctioned three DTH license to different companies to provide DTH service in Pakistan. And in recent tension between Pakistan and India, Pakistani cinema owners announced to withdraw all Indian movies from their cinema and on the other side India also ban Pakistani actors in their country.

After that PEMRA announced to took serious action against those who are using Indian DTH in Pakistan. These all are illegally available in Pakistan and the most of the revenue is generated by India not Pakistan. Service providers are getting channels by these DTH and then distribute it via cable or any medium in which they are operating.

DWN removed almost 20 channels from there TV list which they were taking from Dish TV, i.e Star Sports (all channels), Six, Six HD, Ten Sports HD, Star Movies,Max, Star World, Discovery Science and many more. And many cable operators also removed most of the Indian TV channels.

The question arrives for how long PEMRA can enforce their decision on all service providers, last year we have seen same kind of action but at the end, service providers start on airing the same channels on the demand of public. PEMRA along with all official teams of FIA,PBA, Police and all relevant authorities will crack down if any one involved in selling/distributing or using these illegal DTH in Pakistan.

And lastly today is the last date and from tomorrow all those who are involved in these business will be behind bars.

Update: According to the press conference by chairman PEMRA, Absar Alam currently there are 9 companies which are short listed for DTH and 7 new applied. He added after completion of shortlist process the final bid procedure will be held.

7 Best Alternatives to Samsung Note 7

1

On the surface, the Samsung Note 7 promised a whole lot. It had the potential of being one of, if not the best mobile phone on the market. With the latest specs such as Iris scanners and USB Type-C, excellent camera, sleek and beautiful design, IP68 certified dust and water resistance, 5.7-inch Quad-HD display, 4GB RAM, storage expansion via a microSD slot and of course, the S Pen that gives off a natural handwriting experience; the Note 7 was the phone to have this year.

However, all those specs blew up in Samsung’s face; literally. If you had invested in a Note 7, you should consider yourself lucky if the exploding Note 7 just left a hole in your wallet and nothing else. With over a 100 cases worldwide of the latest device from Samsung exploding or catching fire and even the replacements going up in flames, Samsung has finally decided to discontinue the model after attempting a recall of over 2.5 million devices proved to be ineffective.

So, if you are in the market to look for a phone that can replace the Note 7, here are a few options for you to consider.

Samsung S7 Edge–Buy Now

This one is a no-brainer. The S7 Edge has more or less the same specs as the Note 7, minus the Iris scanner, Type-C plug and the S Pen. With the elegant glass and metal design, water resistance and a slightly larger (3,600mAH) battery, the S7 Edge is a cheaper alternative to the Note 7. The only drawback would be the slightly smaller screen (5.5-inch) but that is negligible in the grand scheme of things.

Google Pixel XL

The larger version of Google’s own phone will give you an Android experience in its purest form. Not only will it come with 7.1 Nougat out of the box, you will also be first in line for updates from Google directly. The 5.5-inch screen, is again, slightly smaller than Note 7’s but can display dynamic visuals itself. It has the latest Snapdragon 821 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage; with unlimited cloud storage to boot. Furthermore, the best camera on a smartphone yet makes this phone worth a look when it is finally available for purchase later this month.

OnePlus 3

OnePlus is quickly developing a market of its own. While not as flashy as the big names in the market, OnePlus plays on the specs at a mind-blowing price. It boasts a nearly stock Android interface. A 5.5-inch Quad-HD AMOLED display can be as good replacement for the Note 7’s. Furthermore, 6GB RAM, quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor (same as Note 7) and 64GB worth of internal storage sweeten the pot for this phone.

While it has a slightly smaller battery (3,000mAH) and no IP68 dust and water-resistance; Type-C charging port for fast charging and fingerprint scanner make sure that it is as close to Note 7 you can get at such a price.

Samsung Note 5–Buy Now

While this phone may be last year’s model that the Note 7 was supposed to replace; it remains quite a brilliant device in its own right. With its successor being too hot to handle, Note 5 can reclaim its spot as THE phone with the S Pen functionality. The same 5.7-inch display, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and a fast processor make the Note 5 a worthy option to revert back to.

Huawei P9 Plus–Buy Now

A cheaper alternative with an elegant aluminum body, 5.5-inch screen, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, 8 core processor, dual cameras at the back for sharper and detailed photos and fingerprint scanner – this iteration of Huawei is a notable contender for the replacement of Note 7 on a budget.

LG V20

The same screen size as the 5.7-inch display of the Note 7, the LG V20 can be a suitable alternative for those looking for a big screen. With the best sound on any smartphone yet, excellent battery, Android Nougat out of the box, dual cameras, fingerprint scanners and a whole lot more, the LG V20 is a formidable smartphone.

Wildcard – iPhone 7 Plus

If your confidence in Samsung has gone up in flames along with the Note 7, then iOS may be worth considering if you are thinking of jumping ships. Said to be Apple’s best phone yet, the larger variant of the iPhone 7 comes with 5.5-inch screen capable of giving high resolution display and excellent cameras that are said to be one of the best in the industry. High performance, style and sleek designs can be availed at a hefty price.

Clothing Brands to Look Forward in October

0
Generation’s Misri

Very recently I have been hooked up with different artistic and vibrant collections launched by the famous clothing brands like Generations, Ego and m.i.m.i. Since, October in Karachi is a little humid yet an initial point of the most awaited fall season it’s time we, young ladies freshen up our wardrobes for the next 2.5 months of 2016. Following are the details of these newly introduced collections:

Generation’s Misri Collection:8/10 in terms of Formal Wear

It’s a beautiful formal-wear collection which includes printed patch frocks, gold belts, gorgeously embellished kotis and vests, azure tops with trending bell sleeves and basic line saris. Though, these outfits can’t be worn casually however they’re perfect for the next wedding you’re planning to attend in fall season. The best part about this collection is its way of depicting self-expression of womanhood in Pakistan, and the brand also managed to represent our exciting culture really well.

All Black Everything By EGO: 7.5/10 in terms of Casual Wear

EGO’s latest black wear collection managed to nail the universal fashion trend of “All Black Everything” in a desi way.The brand achieved to promote it at the right time of the year, as a lot of our Shia fellows will look forward to buying black shalwar kameez. But it’s not just perfect for a Muharram worn, but also a piece of bliss for someone who is utterly obsessed with black color.

Chic Western Collection by m.i.m.i: 9/10 in terms of Western Wear

Currently, I have been following a new page on Instagram namely @mimibymariam, and I was literally obsessed by the clothing this brand offers. It’s a collection of classically timeless  yet affordable Western pieces as relative to other major international Western wear brands  like Mango, Debenhams and NEXT. I really urge you to check out her collection if you love to wear minimalistic and chic western wear.

Here’s the link to her instagram account:  https://www.instagram.com/mimibymariam/?hl=en While, the link of m.i.m.i’s Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/mimi-Western-and-Eastern-wear-clothing-line-140618513104/
