Brief Introduction to the new PSL 6 Anthem:

On Saturday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the Pakistan Super League PSL 6 Anthem “Groove Mera” nationwide. The song features Naeebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunners. PCB refers to the anthem as “It refers to moments of finesse that one finds in the heart of every cricket match.”

The video was directed by Fida Moin and composed by Xulfi and Adnan Dhool including six leading cricketers and their franchises respectively named Shadab Khan (Islamabad United), Shan Masood (Multan Sultans), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Quetta Gladiators). Babar Azam (Karachi Kings), Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), and Wahab Riaz (Peshawar Zalmi).

After the release of the official Anthem of PSL 6, there is abuzz on Twitter. It was believed that the Anthem will bring out regional folk and urban sounds of pop and hip-hop and will be an instant hit, but it doesn’t go that way. So far, the song got mixed reviews and mainly got a lot of criticism.

Cricket Fans vented out their disapproval for the Anthem and are requesting Ali to come up with his new composition. Soon after the trend against “Groove Mera” started on Twitter, the famous Rockstar singer Ali Zafar tweeted “Ab kya ker diya mein ne?”

Does “Groove Mera” deserve such harsh criticism from the fans? The question remains unanswered.
