Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Huawei Mate 10 Pro

We’re just 2 month into 2018 and we’ve already seen some exceptionally good flagship releases, with another one just around the corner.
Huawei unveiled their best ever flagship, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro earlier this year and Samsung’s flagship, the Galaxy S9+ is just around the corner as well.
While Huawei certainly impressed us with their flagship, we’ve got high hopes for Samsung as well. Lets see how there devices stack up against each other in this Samsung Galaxy S9+ vs Huawei Mate 10 Pro comparison.

Design and Display

The Mate 10 Pro came out with an interesting and unique design this year. With an almost bezel-less front and a back made of glass and metal, the Mate 10 certainly qualifies according to modern standards.
The Galaxy S9+ would be coming out with a design similar to that of the Galaxy S8, which actually received a lot of praise last year. The front would be bezel-less while the back would consist of glass.

Both the phones are pretty good in terms of deigns however the Mate 10 Pro is preferred by people wanting different and unique designs.

As far as the displays are concerned, both the devices come with excellent displays. Samsung, as usual, has gone with highly regarded 6.2″ Super AMOLED display.
Huawei, this time, has ditched the IPS LCD and has opted for a 6.0″ AMOLED display, which offers a pretty crisp display as well.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ is coming with a Dual lens setup on the front with two 12MP Lenses. Added features include OIS, Phase detection autofocus, 2x Optical Zoom and LED. The front camera would be an 8MP shooter. The camera on the S9+ is expected to be really good and one of the bests out there.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro also comes with an extremely good camera. It has a Dual lens setup, designed by Leica Optics, which makes it stand out. With a 16MP lens and a 20MP lens, the Mate 10 Pro’s camera is definitely right up there along with the best smartphone camera setups.

Processor and Storage

The International variant of the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is supposed to come with Samsung’s latest Exynos 9810 Otca-Core processor. This processor is expected to outperform almost every processor out there, making the S9+ one of the best performing smartphones out there.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro comes with Huawei’s own Kirin 970, which certainly is extremely powerful but isn’t powerful enough to outperform the processor installed on the Galaxy S9+.

Coming on to the storage, the Galaxy S9+ would be offering 6 Gigs of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage and a micro SD Card slot.

On the other hand, the Mate 10 Pro also offers 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal storage however, does not support a micro SD Card.

Battery and Pricing

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro comes with a 4000 mAh Battery, which provides more than enough juice for a day on heavy usage.

The Galaxy S9+ on the other hand, comes with a comparatively smaller battery, 3500 mAh, however; Samsung’s optimization would ensure that the battery timing does not lack way behind the Mate 10 Pro.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Mate 10 Pro is the relatively affordable device as it costs PKR 80000.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S9+ is expected to be pretty expensive and may cost over PKR 100000.

Overall Verdict

Both these devices come with their pros and cons. While the Galaxy S9+ excels in some departments including Display, processor and storage, the Mate 10 Pro comes out as the better of the two with the camera, battery and affordability concerned.
Considering this, it depends on one’s personal preference and requirements while making the final decision.
