Nigar Film Awards Announced After 12 Years Gap

After a long gap of 12 years, the Nigar Awards are decided to arranged and the nominations for the 47th Nigar Film Awards are finally announced. The event is set to take place on 16th March 2017 in Karachi.

According to a press release, The Nigar Weekly communicated to its readers for their choices in preparing nomination list so the committee through coupons got their views published in Nigar, which were submitted by the readers and then sent to the committee. After then analysing the list is finalised.

For this time the readers gave importance to fresh directors. According to the readers the Punjabi Films did not achieve high standard so they did not show much interest in the nominations. Therefore 47th Nigar Film Awards did not include the category of Punjabi Film Awards.

The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honour the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1958. Following the 46th Annual Nigar Awards in 2002, Nigar Magazine announced its discontinuation of the awards due to the collapse of the Pakistani cinema industry.And now in 2017 it is going to be revived.

The categories for the awards are best directors, best actors, best actresses, best supporting actors, best supporting actresses, best actors in a negative role, best debut directors, best debut actors and best debut actresses. The search engine giant has now reported that it is collaborating with Telenor to empower the dispatch of RCS messaging to their 214 million endorsers crosswise over Europe and Asia, including Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and India. Furthermore, subscribers will have access to advanced messaging features as a standard part of their Android device.

Features like group chat, high-res photo-sharing, read receipts, and more, will come standard on Android. Subscribers will have their SMS experience upgraded through the Messenger app for Android gadgets, developed by Google.Moreover,  the service will be powered by the Jibe RCS cloud from Google.

In markets where RCS is launched, Telenor subscribers who already have the Messenger app on their phone will automatically get access to RCS services through an app update. Moreover, subscribers who don’t have the app can install the Messenger app from the Google Play store. In addition, as part of the partnership with Telenor, many new Android devices will come with Messenger for Android preloaded as the default SMS and RCS messaging app.

Facebook Inc is soon launching an app for Smart TVs for its users to let them watch now videos on bigger screen. It announced on Tuesday by Facebook CEO ZuckerBerg that the world largest social network will be launching soon a standalone app for TVs.

Facebook Users will not only enjoy watching videos posted by their friends but also can have a look at pages “liked” by them and even they can watch the Top live videos. The app will also recommend videos which have watched earlier.

Tuesday’s BlogPost

This app will be available soon on stores for Apple TV, Samsung smart TV and Amazon Fire TV, as mentioned in the blogpost on Tuesday.

“A lot of people when they’re watching video in News Feed during the day will save it for later, because they don’t have time to watch,” he said. “Now it’s easy to watch on your TV if you want to do that. We want people to be able to consume content wherever they are – whether it’s on their phone, whether it’s on their computer — and TV is just another screen for that. But we’re a mobile-first company, so the products we build will always be oriented around the experience you have on a mobile device when you’re watching video.”

The Wall Street Journal Report

Last month The Wall Street Journal unveiled about this upcoming technology that would expectedly bring tremendous change for Facebook users. Facebook generated this app for TV with an aim to bring the company closer to live videos.

Features Of Upcoming App

There are few more announcements regarding videos:

  • Videos will play with the sound on by default in the News Feed, as long as your phone’s sound is on.If your phone is on silent, videos will still muted until you tap into them. This change comes after Facebook tested videos with the sound on by default in recent months and received “positive feedback.”
  • Vertical videos will automatically expand to fill the full screen, like they do on Snapchat. This is change is likely meant to encourage people to shoot and upload videos from their phones.
  • Videos can keep playing in a little thumbnail at the bottom of your screen while you browse the News Feed.Facebook has already tested this feature with a subset of its users, but now it’s rolling out to everyone.
  • Facebook’s TV app will be available “soon” on the Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TVs, with more devices.
