PCB Revealed Detailed Judgement on Umar Akmal Case

Umar Akmal, the former Pakistani middle-order batsman was banned for three years from all cricket by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). While we have yet to receive anything from  Akmal on the matter, PCB has released a statement regarding the judgement passed on Akmal.

A Recap of Umar Akmal Case

Mr. Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, Chairman of the Independent Disciplinary Panel gave a detailed judgment on the case. The esteemed judge imposed a ban of three years for each of the two charges on Akmal for violating the Anti-Corruption Code. He is banned from playing any form of cricket for three years, which means he will be eligible to play cricket on 19th February, 2023.

PCB’s Statement on Umar Akmal Judgement

Justice Chauhan says, “It appears that he (Umar Akmal) is not prepared to show remorse and seek apology, make admission that he failed to fulfill his responsibility under Anti-Corruption Code, Article 2.4.4, rather he tried to take refuge under the pretext that in the past whenever any such approaches were made, the matter was reported by him.”

He also said, “As far as Charge No.1 is concerned, I do not see any circumstances to mitigate the nature of offence, particularly, when the participant (Umar Akmal) has not cooperated with the PCB Vigilance and Security Department and the investigating team. In view of the admission of the participant (Umar Akmal) that he failed to disclose to PCB Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, the details of the approaches and invitations extended to him without unnecessary delay.”

“The charge as framed is proved and the participant (Umar Akmal) has rendered himself liable to be punished for breach of Article 2.4.4. It is also admitted by him (Umar Akmal) that he failed to report the approaches and invitation to the PCB Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, as required by the PCB Code, Article 2.4.4.”

“In view of the above charge as framed, stood proven and participant has rendered himself to be punished under Article 6.2 of the PCB Code.”

The future of Umar Akmal’s cricket is up in the air at the moment. Only time will tell what is in his future, but for now, her bat has been locked up!

What Really Happened?

It happened during the recent episode of Jeeto Pakistan in which Fahad Mustafa invited Adnan Siddiqui and Sarfaraz Ahmed to participate in the game show. During the heat of things, the two celebrities were playing a verbal tug of war and Siddiqui crossed the line.

The Meray Paas Tum Ho actor mocked Sarfaraz for stuttering and the general public was not having it. It is a rude awakening for Siddiqui who took to his Instagram to share his disappointment with Aamir Liaquat for his verbal slip. Now Siddiqui is accused of doing the same thing.

Although at the moment, the audience laughed and Sarfaraz let that go, the general public is not so happy. People have taken to Twitter to share their displeasure over the inappropriate joke. Several of the people think that Siddiqui’s act was “ugly,” “insensitive” and “below the belt.” People are calling him out for disrespecting a national hero and Sarfaraz Ahmed is the pride of the country.

How Were These Google Apps Stealing Data?

According to Kaspersky Labs, a large number of Apps were stealing data by using malware. These Google Apps used a malware called PhantomLance Trojan to steal data. What is most incredible about this malware is that it is very hard to detect and even more difficult to detect.

The malware can easily take out personal data such as call logs, text messages, locations, apps installed and a lot more. Even more worrisome is the fact that this virus was found in some of the most popular apps: mobile cleaners.

Apps That Are Stealing Your Data

The apps that were stealing user data by using this malware were mostly cleaner apps, font changing apps, ad removal apps and such. The developers of these apps first uploaded a clean version and then uploaded the one that had malware. This helped them bypass Google checks.

The malware has been linked to a group called OceanLotus that has previously been linked with such instances as well. While Google has removed all of these apps from the Google PlayStore, their mirrors can still be found online.

Which Countries Were Hit the Most?

According to the report by KasperSky, Vietnam seemed like the main target of PhantomLance malware. Although, it is believed that it is hard to determine how many people or countries have been affected by this malware.

Adnan Siddiqui Offers Apology Over Aamir Liaquat’s Insensitive Remarks

Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui appeared on Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s latest Ramzan show called “Jeeway Pakistan” and went home with a controversy attached to his name. In true Aamir Liaquat Hussain fashion, he made callous remarks about two deceased Bollywood legends for which Adnan Siddiqui is apologizing for to his fans and world at large.

Siddiqui has shared a heartfelt apology to the families and peers of the two Bollywood legends in his Instagram post. Aamir Liaquat, who is also an MNA, has posted a video apology as well to appease the backlash against him.

The Controversial Statement

While talking to Adnan Siddiqui during Friday’s Jeeway Pakistan show about the recent deaths of Bollywood actors, Aamir Liaquat said that both late Sridevi and recently deceased Irrfan Khan had one thing common: they both worked with Adnan Siddiqui.

Siddiqui had previous worked with Sridevi in her last movie “Mom,” whereas he last shared the screen with Irrfan Khan in “A Mighty Heart.” Liaquat went as far as to say however Siddiqui works with in Bollywood passes away.

While Adnan Siddiqui tried to gently ask Liaquat to not make such jokes about sensitive matters, he took to his Instagram where he left a heartfelt apology to his fans at large. “Not only were they both close to me but also as a human it was wrong on so many levels. I cannot even call it ‘hitting below the belt’” he wrote in his apology.

“It was an extremely callous act to joke about the deceased. This is in very bad taste, not only does it show him and me but also the entire country in bad light,” he added. He conveyed his apologies to the families of the deceased actors.

Aamir Liaquat’s Apology

After Adnan Siddiqui posted his apology, Aamir Liaquat also took to his Instagram and shared a brief video of himself apologizing. “Sometimes you can get carried away with what you’re was saying on a live show,” he said in the video.

PCB Advisor Sued Shoaib Akhtar with a Rs.10 Million Lawsuit

The King of Controversy, Shoaib Akhtar has landed himself back in the news without something new this week. This time, the celebrated fast-bowler was brought to the spot light after he publicly bashed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) legal team.

Akhtar made comments against the legal team and said that they had personal agenda against certain cricketers as he was talking about Umar Akmal’s ban. In retaliation, Taffazul Rizvi, PCB’s legal advisor has filed a defamation lawsuit against Akhtar worth Rs.10 million over Akhtar’s remarks.

What Shoaib Akhtar Said?

A day ago, Shoaib Akhtar uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he tore PCB and its legal team apart with his vicious comments. He particularly targeted Rizvi and called him “an inept person of highest order” and made some serious allegation including calling him guilty of profiteering by causing premeditated issues between PCB and the cricketers.

PCB’s Response to the Video

Rizvi commented, “The remarks given by Shoaib Akhtar has affected my goodwill. He said false things about me on social media. His remarks were seen and heard abroad as well. Therefore, I decided to take legal action against him.” Rizvi also mentioned that he has “submitted a criminal complaint to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) under the cybercrime act.”

In a separate response, PCB said that they were disappointed with Akhtar’s outburst and that it was highly disrespectful of him. The Pakistan Cricket Board also mentioned that the legal notice sent to him has no backing by the PCB.

According to the statement released by PCB, “The PCB’s legal adviser, Mr Taffazul Rizvi, in his own discretion, has initiated defamation and criminal proceedings against Shoaib Akhtar, while the PCB too reserves its rights.”

Response by Peers

Former test cricketer and captain Younus Khan and spoken out in favor of Shoaib Akhtar. Khan lauded Akhtar for his bravery to speak out and share the truth. Only time will tell if the accusations made by Akhtar have any truth behind them. At the time, he has a lawsuit to face.
