Huawei has been penetrating into the smartphone market successfully over the past few years and has captured a significant share in the total smartphones’ sales according to recent figures.
Huawei recently announced the new Mate series, comprising of the Mate 10, Mate 10 pro, and an interesting budget option, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite. While the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are high end smartphones, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is an affordable option, with considerably decent specifications and features. Does this make Huawei Mate 10 Lite the best budget smartphone in Pakistan? Let’s get into more details.

Specifications and Features

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite certainly has an impressive design. With minimum bezels, aluminum built, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and no home button, the phone does present itself gracefully.
The display is a FHD (1080p) 5.9” IPS LCD panel with 409 ppi and a 2.5D curved glass over it.

Coming over to the internals, the phone is powered by an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 Processor, clocked at 2.36Ghz and 1.7Ghz. The phone runs on the Android 7.1 Nougat, with Huawei’s own EMUI 5.1 running over it. The phone is also expected to receive the Android Oreo 8.0 updates in the near future.
As far as the storage is concerned the Mate 10 Lite provides 4 Gigs of Ram and 64 GB of internal storage, which should be enough for an average user.

The Mate 10 Lite includes a 3340 mAh battery, that should provide enough juice to last through the day however, the absence of fast charge here may significantly increase the charging time for a battery as big.

Other features include a snappy fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, compass and an LED notification light. Notably, the USB Type-C and Gyroscope are also missing along with the fast charge capability.

Cameras

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite actually sports 4 cameras, with 2 being on the front and 2 on the back. It is amongst the very few smartphones to include 4 cameras, that too in this price segment.
On the rear we have a 16MP+2MP Dual Camera setup, alongside an LED Flash, HDR and phase detection autofocus.
Surprisingly, the front selfie cameras of this phone are said to be better than those at the back. It has 13MP+2MP dual cameras at the front, for epic selfies with portrait mode.

Price and Availability in Pakistan

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite will be officially released on 5^th of November 2017 in Pakistan during a launch ceremony and is already available for pre-order through Huawei. Upon pre-ordering the device, you can also avail a special gift from Huawei.

As far as its price is concerned, it costs Rs.29,999/- in Pakistan, making it one of the best affordable smartphones in Pakistan.

Latif Kapadia Memorial Welfare Trust(LKMWT) has joined hands with The Hunar Foundation (THF) in an effort to create an awareness for various basic health issues and the particular effects of consuming “Gutka. To safeguard the common ailments within the society by adapting precautionary measures.

Following this alliance, ‘Gutka Eradication’ event was held at the Karachi Institute of THF, with the core purpose of educating the students about the harmful effects of eating gutka, and necessary precautionary steps that need to be ensured to overcome this addiction.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Dinaz Ghandhi, Honorary Board Member LKMWT who is also an Associate Professor, Altamash Institute and Consultant oral and Maxillofacial surgeon at Aga Khan University Hospital. Ms Naeema Kapadia – Program Director — LKMWT , along with Mr Farman Khan and Mr Arsalan Khan of LKMWT, also participated in the workshop.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Dinaz Ghandhi said, “Our youth holds immense value in terms of the nation’s progress, and for that it is our duty to ensure these young kids are well educated towards basic health issues.It is pertinent for these children to understand the level of threat, Gutka and other such eatables possess, it not only leads them to ailments, but also halts their progress in academic lives,” she concluded.

Ms Naeema Kapadia of LKMWT added, ‘We will continue to reach out to the marginalized communities in spreading awareness of the menace of gutka consumption. Together, LKMWT and THF aim to advocate, educate, and empower the youth of our communities for improved health.”

Also present at the event, were Air Commodore (Retd)- Muhammad Nasiruddin, Principal of the DMSTI of The Hunar Foundation- Karachi and Mr Abdul Razzaq Sandhu, Academic Coordinator at the DMSTI.

Air Commodore (Retd) Muhammad Nasiruddin added, “THF has given a platform to the Health Sector to raise awareness about urgent health care issues prevalent in our society. We at THF invited LKMWT to hold a workshop on the menace of gutka consumption– LKMWT raised concerns of THF students about the effects of using pan, chalia and gutka, who will now become ambassadors and carry the message to their families and communities forward.
The event and workshop was attended by many students along with the officials of LKMWT and THF, which aims to empower the youth of our country through such collaborations.
