This  research oriented health sciences institute  is one of the region’s leading tertiary level hospitals which includes 22 medical and surgical specialist centers. Located in Islamabad, Pakistan, this public hospital is a 592-bed hospital spread over 3.5 hectares, the 230 Bedded Children’s Hospital spread over 1.6 hectares specializing in pediatric care and the 125 bedded Maternal & Child Health Care Central which specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. Taking 7th position among the top 20 public and private hospitals in the country, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) has topped the list of public sector hospitals in Pakistan.

A second largest teaching hospital in the Pakistan is listed among the top 20 hospitals of Pakistan. Surprisingly, a public hospital with only basic specialties at first in 1996 has done remarkable development in 2005.
